My Best

I woke up one Thursday morning very anxious.

As thoughts of the previous day ran rampant in my mind, I scooted off trying to get us ready for work and school.

The feeling didn't go away.

Why did it appear I was trying my hardest, but get less results than the rest of my team? Why was I going the extra mile and outside the box for the bare minimum?

It hurt my feelings. It frustrated me. It ran around and around in my head. I thought "Why my life gotta be the hardest of everyone?"

The numbers didn't add up. I should have way more data than what is projected. But there I was, looking like I wasn't making a difference being mediocre.

As I dropped my daughter off, I was riding and the Holy Spirit whispered "It doesn't add up to your calculations but it adds up to Mines."

I was at a red light when I immediately heard the voice of God quieting my anxious thoughts of the morning. He reminded me that I work as unto His standards, and not to mans data. (Colossians 3:23) His numbers add up to what He's doing, not what I see. He also led me to my meditation app. Right there, the mediation for the day: Sufficient in Christ.

I honestly have been doing my best. I thought "My best is enough for You, God."

I honestly get it now. The Lord leads me though my work each and every day with: how to speak to my colleagues and clients, what to do, where to direct my focus each and every moment ... He even send me gentle reminders throughout the day regarding things and tasks I must complete.

Yes, He does this for me.

And with His guidance, my obedience to Him as I navigate my day honors Him in my workspace. As long as I do that, He is pleased.

I may feel that my best, looking at the black and white data, is not seen in a very good light, but God knows what I complete each and every day and He is blessing my best.

I want to encourage you too. The same God who works in my life works in yours. Your best is what He is requiring from you. He sees and He knows all - He knows when we are giving our all and He knows when we are giving Him a portion. In the difference, God is moving people, places and things in your favor.
