Keep Going

The hook to the song Keep on Movin' by Caron Wheeler and Soul II Soul replayed in my head that one Saturday.

Keep on movin', Keep on movin' don't stop no. Keep on movin', Keep on movin' don't stop no.

Because, if I stopped, nothing will get done. The kitchen, the bathrooms, the bedrooms, the grocery shopping.... I had to work with the momentum I was presently in. If I stopped, the momentum would stop.

Most times, you just have to encourage yourself while you are in it. As a solo mom, you can spend most times alone or with your kids. You don't have anyone in your ear to say keep going all the time, so you rely on motivating and encouraging yourself.

That day I said "Keep moving Amber, keep moving." Wiped off the counters. "Keep moving." Scrubbed the toilets. "Keep moving." Changed the sheets. "Keep moving." Organized and straightened my office.

But the key to encouraging yourself, is filling yourself with things that the Holy Spirit can bring back into remembrance. What have you been listening to? What have you been reading? What have you been scrolling past? If we fill our lives with junk and filth, how can we be encouraged when we are opening ourselves up to spirits that bring us down?

I ask you, what have you been repeating to yourself over and over? Is it life? Is it fruitful? Or are you repeating what the enemy has lied to you? Proverbs 18:21 tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. I've learned, what you speak is really what you get out of life.

That day, I spoke keep going. And you know what? I kept going. I kept following what I spoke over myself today. I also speak:

I am loved.

I am beautiful.

I am God's creation.

I am unique.

I am special to God.

I am the best person I can be.

I am a good mom.

Even when I don't think I am... even when I don't feel like it. I speak (audible) over what I want to see and be.

Don't be afraid to encourage yourself mom. We all will have moments where we have to push and pat ourselves on the back.
