Lord, I Just Want to Thank You

The old Pentecostal praise song rings in my heart as I write this.

Lord, I just wanna thank you

Lord, I just wanna thank you

Lord, I just wanna thank you

Lord, I just wanna thank you

I wanna thank you, for being so good to me.

So good to me.

Sometimes, a praise and a "thank you" ring out of my heart for the Lord. I look around and find the blessing in the everyday, and I have moments where I stop and say, "Lord, thank you."

Around my home, I constantly say "thank you." In 2020, I purchased my second home. It was everything to me, and still is. When I am able to pull into my garage and understand that just the year before I was in an apartment on the second story, where I didn't have covered parking. It was a struggle to have groceries, a toddler, and pouring rain. My plea at that time was to have a home with a garage so I could get out of my car, dry, and walk into my home without running up and down the stairs just to bring in groceries. But five years in, and I still say, "Thank You."

Or the time I looked out my car window dropping off my daughter at school. I thanked the Lord that He gave me the most fantastic child anyone could have. That she embodies all the characteristics I would want in a girl in today's culture, and even more, the little girl who I wanted to be: brave, sure, and wise.

Or the time I walk into my place of employment and say to the Lord, "Thank you." Just for having me at a place where I have the flexibility to have a work-life balance, a place of employment, and a job that pays exactly what I need.

See, there are big blessings we receive. And at one point, these same blessings were answered prayers. And, to honor God and appreciate Him every chance we get is acknowledging God is good. So, it's never a waste to wave my hands in gratitude in my home, or whisper a "Thank You, Jesus" in my car, because it is a delight to acknowledge the One who has been, is, and who will be.

When have you stopped to personally thank God?
