I'm Honoring That

Feeling a little agitated at the third day of taking care of a sick little girl.

I walked into her room yet again at the sound of the 8 hour alarm for another dose of fever reducing medicine. I sat her bedside, heavy. Heavy from the "taking care" and tired of being stretched to my limit.

God said, “I’m honoring that.”

Clear as day, before I bent down by her bedside God spoke to me. He said "I am honoring this."

I noticed I could get so wrapped up in the big things I can serve God, but He reminded me clear as day, my service to my daughter is the biggest way to show sacrificial love. Sacrifice my comfort for her care. And He also shared, "As you do, I am also comforting you too"

Now, at that moment, I didn't feel comforted, or even cared for. I felt unseen and exhausted, even though somehow I know God graced me - yet I didn't want to be graced. I didn't want to make it look easy - because if it looks easy, it must be.

However, God shared that how I handle the unseen things exemplifies a purified heart - and a selfless spirit. With the audience of 1 (and maybe 2 including my daughter) I pressed on with the day of taking care of her, taking care of me, taking care of the dog and taking care of work.

As small as it may seem, God does the best work in the small / insignificant things. Just like the boy with 2 fish and 5 loves of bread, David and his slingshot and 5 stones, the dirty manger for Jesus... the list is endless of all things God shares I'm honoring your small, I am making things great in your little.

As this encourages me, I hope it does so for you. Knowing, God is honoring EVERY SINGLE THING you do for Him, and will show up in ways you probably won't even remember in your life. Just keep doing, and allow God to honor.
